STOWE, Vt. –
Laurence St. Germain became the fifth Vermont woman to win the Giant Slalom individual title leading the Catamounts on day two of the 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships from Stowe Mountain Resort Thursday. After the second day of competition Vermont is in third place 7.5 points behind Utah and 14 points behind Dartmouth who placed three skiers on the podium Thursday.

After a strong first run St. Germain sealed her first individual title with a blistering second run time of 1:01.98, .52 seconds faster than anyone else in the field. She finished with a combined time of 2:00.57. The last Catamount to win the women's Giant Slalom was Jamie Kingsbury in 2005.
Paula Moltzan finished fifth overall for the Catamounts earning First Team All-American honors in the GS for the second straight year. Moltzan finished with a combined time of 2:02.01. Vermont's
Mille Graesdal was a DNF on the first run.
Dartmouth's Tanguy Nef won the men's giant slalom with a combined time of 1:56.10. Nef had the fastest first run and second run time in the field. It was a big day for the Big Green men's team, James Ferri finished third overall and Drew Duffy placed fifth.
Patrick McConville led the Catamounts finishing eighth overall in a time of 1:58.36. He earned Second Team All-American honors for the first time in his career.
Max Roeisland finished 19th overall for the Catamounts earning 12 team points for Vermont. He finished with a combined time of 1:59.36.
The Nordic portion of the 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships will conclude on Friday with the 15k/20k Classical. Both races will feature a mass-start. The women will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the men at noon.
NOTES
- After earning three All-American citations today Vermont has 378 in program history.
- St. Germain's individual title was the 58th in Vermont program history.
- On Saturday St. Germain will make a bid to become the second Catamount in program history to win a slalom and giant slalom title while at Vermont. Einar Bohmer won the giant slalom in 1990 and the slalom in 1991 and 1992.
