Ben Ogden and
Lina Sutro earned All-American honors in the Nordic Classical races on day three of the 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships from Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe Friday. After the third day of competition Vermont is in fourth place with 350 points, 76.5 points behind first place Utah. Dartmouth is narrowly ahead of Vermont with 359 points while Colorado has 361 in second place.

Dartmouth's Katherine Ogden defended her title in the 15k Classical posting a time of 46:25.7, 23.4 seconds faster than Utah's Julia Richter who finished second. Vermont's Bizyukova earned her second All-American citation of the week finishing fifth overall to lead the Catamounts. She finished in a time of 48:07.7 to earn First Team All-American honors for the first time in her career.
Sutro earned a Second Team All-American citation, placing ninth overall in a time of 48:18.6.
Margie Freed placed 11th overall in a time of 48:45.9. Freed was bumped on the first turn of the mass-start and fell. At the 3k mark she was 34th in the field, by the 7k mark she had climbed back to 11th.
Skiing just 130 miles south of his hometown of Montreal New Mexico's Ricardo Izquierdo-Bernier won the men's 20k Classical Friday afternoon. He finished 4.9 seconds ahead of Alaska Anchorage's Sigurd Roenning to earn the Lobos first men's Nordic title since 2003 and their first-ever Classical title.
Vermont native
Ben Ogden earned Second Team All-American honors for the first time in his career leading the Catamounts with an eighth-place finish. Ogden was in the lead pack for the entire race and finished in a time of 56:14.0, 37.9 seconds ahead of the next finisher.
Bill Harmeyer finished 20th overall for the Catamounts in a time of 58:04.0.
Finn O'Connell was 32nd to cross the finish line with a time of 59:19.0.
The 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships conclude tomorrow with the men's and women's slalom. First runs will begin at 9 a.m. from Mount Mansfield Ski Club at Stowe Mountain Resort. Fans can watch the action live on NCAA.com.
NOTES
- After earning three All-American citations today Vermont has 381 in program history.
- Utah's 65.5-point lead over Colorado is the tenth largest entering the final day of competition since the sport went co-ed in 1983. In the nine instances of a larger lead all nine went on to win the team national title.
