NEW SEASON, NEW RULES
The NCAA has shifted from two 35-minute halves to four 15-minute quarters for the 2019 season. In conjunction with the change, the game clock will be frozen during all penalty corner stoppages.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse faces an America East foe to open the season for the fourth consecutive season on Friday. The Orange finished the 2018 season with an 8-8 record, falling to Duke in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

The Orange will need to find new offensive production in 2019 with the departure of their 2018 leading scorer, Roos Weers. Both goalies on the Syracuse roster, sophomore Syd Taylor and freshman Sarah Sinck, enter the season with no collegiate experience.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Syracuse meet in the season opener for the second straight year. The Cats opened the 2018 season with a 4-1 loss at then-11th-ranked Syracuse. The Orange hold a 10-3 all-time series record against the Catamounts and a 2-2 record in Burlington. This is the fourth meeting between the programs since 2006.

Six Catamounts join the program ahead of the 2019 season, including five members of the Class of 2023 and one sophomore transfer.

2019 AMERICA EAST PRESEASON POLL | Release
Vermont is slated to finish third in the 2019 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll East Division, the highest ranking in program history. UVM finished the poll with 14 points for third, behind UAlbany (25) and Maine (21). Vermont edged conference newcomer Monmouth (12), New Hampshire (12), and UMass Lowell (6).

MORGAN VAN NOSTRAND JOINS PROGRAM | Release
