CATAMOUNTS OWN THE PAINT
UVM had a great day in the post as individuals and as a team in their last outing against UMBC Saturday.
Hanna Crymble had four blocks matching a career-high.
Sarah Wells joined the fun with a career-high three blocks. As a team Vermont swatted nine shots away, which was the most they have had against a Division 1 team this season. Wells also had a career-high nine rebounds as UVM out-rebounded UMBC 36-35.
CRYMBLE EARNS AMERICA EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hanna Crymble dominated both ends of the floor in the Catamounts' annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Inspired Closets. She was named America East Player of the Week, the third weekly honor she has earned in her career. In conference play thus far Crymble is leading the team in scoring with 17.3 points-per game. She is also the team leader in rebounds, averaging 10.7 per game. She is tied for the conference lead in rebounds per game with Binghamton's Olivia Ramil.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton has started conference play 1-2, and holds a 12-4 overall record. After earning a 61-43 win at UMBC, the Bearcats most recently lost to UMass Lowell at home. Kai Moon leads the America East in scoring with 20.1 points-per game. Her 35.7% shooting from beyond-the-arc is 5th in the conference behind the Catamounts'
Josie Larkins (36.4%).
The Bearcats have the most effective offense in the America East, averaging 69.3 points-per-game. They hold the highest mark in the conference for threes-per-game and are second to Vermont shooting 41.1% from the field.
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont leads the all-time series with Binghamton 21-16. Last year the teams split the season series, with the road team winning both games. After beating Binghamton in overtime on the road 58-57, the Catamounts fell 59-50 at Patrick Gym. The overtime game was the third ever between the two programs.
Josie Larkins hit a three-pointer with 14.4 seconds left in regulation to send it to overtime, and
Candice Wright buried two clutch free-throws to seal it in the extra frame.
GAME USED JERSEY AUCTION
The team's game worn lavender jerseys from Saturday against UMBC are currently being auctioned off until Thursday, January 16, the auction can be found at
uvmathletics.com/auctions. Bidding starts at $125 and proceeds will go to the UVM Cancer Center.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer.
