WATERVILLE, Maine –
Mathias Tefre won his first career EISA race in the slalom and
Ben Ogden won his third straight race as the Catamounts claimed the Colby Carnival with a total of 899 points. Vermont finished 68 points ahead of second-place Dartmouth.

Tefre had the best first run in the field at 48.37 and also turned in the second fastest second run time of 54.09 for a combined run time of 1:42.46.
Joachim Jagge Lindstol finished second overall in the slalom with a combined run time .21 seconds behind Tefre.
Spencer Smith was the Catamounts final scorer of the afternoon placing eighth overall in a combine time of 1:44.85. The men's alpine team earned 130 points, 26 more than anyone else in the field.
Ogden earned his third straight win on the EISA circuit with a commanding performance in the men's 15k Classic. He finished with a time of 43:27.0 an astounding 1:34.8 ahead of the second-place finisher Middlebury's Peter Wolter.
Bill Harmeyer placed fourth for the Catamounts with a time of 45:20.09.
Karl Schulz placed fifth overall finishing exactly 18 seconds behind Harmeyer. The men's Nordic squad also earned 130 points.
On the women's side
Margie Freed was the top-finisher for the Catamounts earning her third straight top-five finish with a time of 34:31.0 for fifth in the 10k Classic.
Lina Sutro finished right behind Sutro in sixth place with a time of 35:13.3.
Waverly Gebhardt was Vermont's final scorer on the day, placing 10th overall with a mark of 35:36.9. The trio earned 106 team points for UVM.
Josefine Selvaag was Vermont's top finisher in the slalom, placing 12th overall with a combined run time of 1:52.42.
Hannah Hunsaker earned the first EISA team points of her career with a 15th place finish in a time of 1:53.42. UVM's final scorer was
Caroline Jones. She placed 18th in the field with a two-run time of 1:54.02. The women's alpine squad earned 83 team points.
With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to a Vermont charity, bringing the 2020 total to 18 wins totaling $1,800. A special thank you to Vermont Mutual Insurance for their support, protecting Vermonters since 1828.
The EISA circuit continues next weekend at the Bates Carnival on Feb. 7-8 with alpine action at Sunday River and the Nordic competition at Black Mountain. Friday's races are the giant slalom, the women's 15k classic and the men's 20k classic.
