WORCESTER, Mass. – The Vermont Catamounts trail third-place Binghamton by just two points after the third day of the America East Championship Saturday at WPI.
New Hampshire (574 pts.) holds a three-day lead in the Championship with UMBC (517.5 pts.) trailing in second. Binghamton sits third with 365.5 points with the Catamounts just behind with 363.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Katie Rivers posted a time of 4:28.06 to finish fourth in the A Final of the 400 IM.
- Jenny O'Neil (58.30) and Vivian Nguyen (58.73) finished back-to-back in the B Final of the 100 fly to claim 10th and 11th overall. Laura Pringle (58.97) took 13th in the event.
- Cailin Campbell took fourth in the A Final of the 200 free with a time of 1:52.54. Mina Poppas (1:52.67) finished just behind Campbell in fifth.
- Sierra Sexton (1:53.70) took the top spot in the B Final of the 200 free to finish ninth overall. Sophia Smith posted a time of 1:54.82 to finish 12th overall.
- In the 100 back A Final, Kira Parker (57.08) finished in a tie for fifth and Beth Hartog (57.68) finished eighth. Peyton McNulty (57.73) took 11th after racing in the B Final.
- Parker, O'Neil, Nguyen, and Sexton closed the third day of competition in the 400 medley relay and posted a time of 3:52.71 to finish fifth.
CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
- Rivers reached an A Final for the second consecutive day. Her time of 4:28.06 in the 400 IM marked a personal-best for the junior.
- Campbell and Poppas each reached an A Final for the second straight day.
- Hartog reached the first A Final of her career in the 100 back.
- Parker and Hartog both set personal bests in the 100 back final heat.

The final day of the America East Championship begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. The day's preliminaries feature the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly. Final heats are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at WPI.
