GILBERT, Ariz. – The University of Vermont field hockey team once again placed 15 student-athletes on the 2019 NFHCA Division I National Academic squad. It marks the second straight year 15 Cats have earned the national academic recognition. Additionally,
Taryn Marra was recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction.

Collectively, 1,052 athletes from 75 institutions received National Academic Squad recognition. Another 167 individuals picked up Scholar of Distinction honors, recognizing those with a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher.
Vermont was one of four America East schools to place 15 or more athletes on the Academic Squad. Stanford led the conference with 18 selections with Cal (17) and Monmouth (15) following. Maine and UC Davis each saw 10 athletes receive recognition as five conference members saw double-digit representation.
A total of 33 Division I teams placed 15 or more athletes on the National Academic Squad. Towson and UMass led the nation with 20 selections apiece.
The Catamounts once again earned the 2019 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, given to programs with a 3.0 GPA or higher in the fall semester.
Marra earned Scholar of Distinction honors for the second consecutive season. She boasts a 3.92 cumulative GPA as an Elementary Education K-6 major.
