BURLINGTON, Vt. – UVM head men's soccer coach
Rob Dow has announced his leadership group for the 2020 campaign. A pair of seniors,
Daði Bærings Halldórsson and
Nolan Jimmo, and junior
Garrett Lillie will serve as team captains.
"This is a leadership team that uniquely compliments each other and has proven the ability to represent the values of our program at the highest standard," Dow said.
Halldórsson started 15 of his 17 games played in 2019. He was credited with an assist on the game-winning goal at Quinnipiac, UVM's first ever victory against the Bobcats. On the defensive end, the midfielder from Reykjavik, Iceland helped the back line to eight clean sheets. Jimmo saw action in seven matches as a reserve defender. In his seven games played, the Cats outscored their opponents 20-2 with five shutouts.
Lillie joined the Green and Gold last season as a transfer from Coastal Carolina. He earned 16 starts and finished the year with five points. He ranked third on the team with three assists. He tallied a three-point game against Harvard with one goal and one assist.
Vermont posted an 11-6-1 overall record and clinched a share of the America East regular season title. The Catamounts had six players honored on the All-America East teams and landed three student-athletes on the All-Conference First Team –
Jon Arnar Barðdal,
Ívar Örn Árnason, and
Rasmus Tobinski.
