BOSTON – For the second straight week, field hockey goalkeeper
Sierra Espeland was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week after another strong weekend in the cage, the conference announced earlier today.

Espeland posted her ninth win of the season over the weekend and picked up her fourth shutout. On Friday she made four saves in a 4-0 victory over UC Davis and then followed that up with eight on Sunday against Cal for an .857 save percentage. Espeland ranks second in the league with a .761 save percentage this season and third with a 1.585 goals against average.
She also moved up the UVM record book once again with her ninth career shutout. That puts her in a tie for fourth all-time for the Catamounts.
The Cats are back at home this weekend for the third of four straight games at home when #25 Maine comes to town on Friday. All that action gets underway at 2 p.m. from Moulton Winder Field.
