WOODSTOCK, Vt. – With four races on the EISA circuit Friday the Catamounts won all four and claimed nine podium spots in an impressive performance across the board for Vermont. Newcomers
Justine Clément and
Ella Renzoni won the women's giant slalom races on Burke Mountain while
Matias Øvrum claimed the 10k Classic and
Anna Bizyukova won the 5k Classic in Woodstock.

In her first race as a collegian Clement led the way for the Catamounts with a two-run time of 2:08.33 in the first GS of the day. Her teammate
Francesca English finish just .6 seconds later in second place and Renzoni made it a Catamount podium sweep with a combined time of 2:09.14. Rachael Desrochers finished fourth overall and
Josefine Selvaag placed eighth.
In the second GS of the day Renzoni brought home first place with a combined run time of 2:05.50, finishing .32 seconds ahead of the field. English earned another podium on the day placing third overall with a two-run time of 2:05.89. Desrochers was the Catamounts final scorer of the race, again placing fourth overall. Overall the women's alpine squad claimed 276 team points in the two GS races.
Øvrum led the way for the Nordic Catamounts in their first race of the day. He won the 10k Classic with a time of 28:58.1 earning his third career EISA win. First-year
Jacob Nystedt earned his first career podium in his first collegiate race placing second overall 28.7 seconds behind
Øvrum.
Greg Burt completed the Catamount sweep of the podium with a time of 29.48.8. First-year
Bjorn Westervelt finished fifth overall in his first EISA action.
Bizyukova closed out the impressive Friday for the Catamounts with a convincing 36.7 second win in the 5k Classic with a time of 16:29.7.
Lina Sutro was the second Catamount scorer placing fourth overall with a time of 17:28.5. First-year Annie McCologan placed fifth overall 12.4 seconds after Sutro to close out the scorers for Vermont.
Phoebe Sweet (6th) and
Libby Tuttle (8th) also placed in the top-10 Friday.
The Catamount ski team is back in action tomorrow morning as the men's alpine team will complete two giant slalom races at Burke Mountain.
