FRANCONIA, N.H. –
Mathias Tefre became the fifth Catamount in program history to claim the men's slalom national title leading Vermont on a big day from Cannon Mountain. On the women's side
Justine Clément finished second overall leading a trio of Catamounts who finished in the top-eight. After the third day of competition Vermont is in fifth place with 299 points, Utah continues to lead with 398 points.

Tefre had the second best first run in the field clocking in a 44.17 but he trailed Colorado's Filip Forejtek by .79 seconds. In the second run Tefre was able to flip that around and defeat Forejtek by six hundredths of a second to claim UVM's 69th all-time individual national championship. His two-run time was 1:29.09.
David Frisk earned the first All-American honors of his career with a 10th place finish in a two-run time of 1:31:01.
Declan McCormack had to hike back up the hill on his first run but closed the season with a 29th place finish after posting the ninth fastest second run in the field.
Clément paced an impressive women's effort for the Catamounts earning First Team All-American honors for the first time in her career. She placed second overall with a combined time of 1:40.91. Denver's Amelia Smart claimed her second career NCAA slalom win with an impressive mark of 1:38.90.
Josefine Selvaag (7th, 1:42.01) and
Francesca English (8th, 1:42.08) earned Second Team All-American honors for UVM. As a team UVM garnered 85 team points on the day.
The 2021 NCAA Skiing Championships will conclude Saturday with the women's 15k and men's 20k Freestyle from the Jackson Nordic Center. Action begins at 10 a.m. with the women's race followed by the men's race at noon. Live streaming is available at NCAA.com.
