BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont won 13 of the 16 events Saturday afternoon as the Catamounts cruised to a 171-123 win over Rhode Island from Forbush Natatorium. Sophomore
Mina Poppas led the Catamounts winning three events and a relay. With the win Vermont improved to 2-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Poppas was the top-finisher for Vermont in the 200 free (1:56.82), 50 free (25.10) and 500 free (5:15.4). Her 50 free time was the best of her career by .14 seconds.
- The Catamounts started the day strong with their second-straight win in the 200 medley relay. UVM's combination of Kira Parker, Jenny O'Neil, Vivian Nguyen and Kara Campbell finished in a time of 1:49.69 2.37 seconds faster than URI's top group.
- For the second straight meet Parker earned two individual wins for Vermont in the 100 back (57.85) and 100 free (54.45). She is now four-for-four this season in the 100 back.
- In the 1000 free first year Ellie Martin earned her first career collegiate win. She finished in a time of 10:57.38.
- Sophomore Cailin Campbell finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.25. It was her second career win. She also won a 200 IM against Binghamton on January 12, 2020.
- Katie Rivers won the 200 fly for the third straight meet this afternoon. She finished in a time of 2:12.96.
- Vivian Nguyen earned her second win of the season in the 100 fly for Vermont. She finished in a time of 58.84 and was for the second straight week the only competitor under the minute mark in the event.
- Beth Hartog won her second race of the season in the 200 back for the Catamounts. She finished in a time of 2:07.50. This afternoon's win was her sixth career in the event.
- Fresh off her eighth career America East Diver of the Week honor Emily Murphy won the three-meter diving for the Catamounts with 237.37 points. She placed second in the one-meter with 216.59 points.
- UVM closed out its second win of the year with a win in the 400 Free Relay. UVM's combo of Poppas, Nguyen, Kara Campbell and Issy Magbie finished in a time of 3:40.05.
