Katie Rivers earned All-Conference honors on a strong first day of the America East Championships for the Catamounts. Following the opening day of competition UVM is in second place with 234.5 points. They trail first place New Hampshire by 17.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. UVM's relay team of Kira Parker, Jenny O'Neil, Vivian Nguyen and Mina Poppas finished in a time of 1:45:06 and earned 32 team points. UNH won the relay in a time of 1:44.05.
- Poppas earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career as runner-up in the 500 Free in the second event of the day. Her time of 4:55.24 was the fastest of her career and marked the first time she's gone sub-five minutes in the event. First year Ellie Martin earned the final team point of the event placing 16th overall with a time of 5:10.99.
- Campbell and Rivers earned All-Conference honors in the 200 IM. Rivers tied the UVM varsity record in the event with a time of 2:04.53 to earn a second-place finish. Rivers tied the mark held by Chelsea Krisanda '13. Krisanda's time was set on February 15, 2013 at the America East Championships hosted by UMBC. Campbell earned the first all-conference honors of her career placing third overall with a time of 2:05.15.
- Kara Campbell (8th, 2:09.80) and Beth Hartog (9th, 2:10.51) also finished in the top-10 for the Catamounts in the 200 IM.
- Parker earned UVM's third second-place finish of the day in the 50 Free. Her time of 23.51 collected 17 team points for the Catamounts. Isabelle Magbie placed sixth for the Catamounts with a time of 24.35.
- The opening day wrapped up with the 800 Free Relay. UVM placed second in the race with a time of 7:35.08. Rivers, Kara Campbell, Cailin Campbell and Poppas swam the event for the Catamounts.

The Catamounts will be back in action of day two of the championships at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Once again, the action will be available on ESPN+. Saturday's schedule includes the 200 Free Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back and 400 Medley Relay.
