COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Nordic skier

The current and former Catamounts represent three of 14 cross country skiers named to the U.S. squad for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing next month. Ogden will be making his Olympic debut while the Pattersons will be competing in their second straight Olympic games.
"I'm really excited to be named to the Olympic team, said Ogden. "Growing up in southern Vermont, I have been inspired by Olympians my whole life and becoming one myself has always been a dream. I am excited to race hard and have some fun in China."
Ogden, the inaugural recipient of the David and Beth Daigle Ski Scholarship, has had a strong start to the 2022 season competing abroad for the United States and at home on the EISA circuit for the Catamounts. On January 1 in Oberstdorf, Germany Ogden was the top U.S. finisher in the World Cup sprints placing 22nd overall. Then last weekend at the Colby Carnival he won the first men's race of the Nordic season the 20k Freestyle. Ogden was the only finisher under 49 minutes with a time of 48:41.6. This week he was named EISA Men's Nordic Skier of the Week for his efforts.
Scott Patterson is the only returning male Olympian on the men's squad for Beijing. He made his second Olympic team after winning the 30k freestyle race at the 2022 U.S. national championships — his third national title — in early January. Patterson finished 11th in the 50k Classic at the 2018 Olympics, the best finish ever by an American cross-country skier in the event.
Caitlin Patterson made her second Olympic team after winning two national titles earlier this month. At the PyeongChang Olympics she finished 26th in the 30k classic mass start race and 34th in the skiathlon.
The 2022 Olympic Winter Games will feature 12 cross country events, including four individual events for both men and women and two team events for each gender, including the team sprint and the team relay. Cross country kicks off the 2022 Games with its first medal event, the women's 15k skiathlon on Saturday, February 5.
