SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT enters Saturday's contest in search of their first win in league play. The Highlanders are also in search of their first goal in conference play after posting scoreless draws against UMass Lowell and Binghamton, followed by a 1-0 loss to New Hampshire on Oct. 8. NJIT's attack is led by Goncalo Franco (3 goals) and Jose Del Valle (2 goals, 1 assist), with Maximus Barboto ranking fourth in the league in assists (4). Samuel Reisgys returns as the starting goalkeeper, posting a .731 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average in 11 starts this season.

Vermont and NJIT meet for the fifth time in series history on Saturday. The Catamounts are have taken the previous four meetings against the Highlanders, including a pair of America East Semifinal victories. Vermont swept NJIT last season, including the 3-2 semifinal victory at Virtue Field.

The Catamounts were ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll on Tuesday. The ranking is Vermont's highest ever by the United Soccer Coaches/NSCAA, and the second-highest national ranking in program history – Vermont was ranked 11th on the NCAA's Final Poll in 1989. Vermont is currently 10th in the NCAA's RPI ranking.

UVM owns the longest active winning streak in the country with nine straight victories. The nine-game winning streak is the first for a Vermont team since its historic 1989 season. The 2022 Catamounts are only the third team in program history to reach nine straight wins.
