HANOVER, N.H. –
Joachim Jagge Lindstol won the men's slalom Friday leading a group of four Catamounts to earn podiums on the opening day of the 99th Dartmouth Carnival. Friday's alpine races were an individual NCAA qualifier and didn't count towards the Dartmouth Carnival point total. The Catamounts are in third place after the Nordic races with 203 points. The host Big Green sit in first place with 247 points.

Lindstol won his fourth race of the season Friday. His first run time of 52.29 was .99 seconds faster than anyone else in the field. He relayed his advantage to a winning two-run time of 1:40.19. Defending NCAA slalom champ,
Mathias Tefre finished second on Friday with a two-run time of 1:40.76. His second run of 47.37 was the fastest in the field.
Cole Palchak earned his first collegiate top-10 placing ninth with a time of 1:43.18
Caroline Jones earned her best finish of the season placing second in the slalom Friday. Her second run time of 45.98 was second best in the field. Her combined run time was 1:34.35.
Marina Vilanova (6th, 1:35.92),
Moa Clementson (7th, 1:36.26) and Justine Clement (8th, 1:36.44) all placed in the top-10 as well.
Bizyukova led the way for the Nordic team Friday, placing second overall in the 5k classic. She finished in a time of 16:38.0, but was 31.6 seconds behind Dartmouth's Jasmine Drolet.
Annie McColgan was seventh for Vermont in a time of 17:20.3 and
Haley Brewster was 13th with a time of 17:39.0.
The top-4 men's skiers for Vermont in the 10k classic all finished nine through 12 in the field.
Finn Sweet was UVM's top skier placing ninth with a time of 29:16.6.
Greg Burt came in 10th 9.6 seconds behind Sweet.
Jacob Nystedt was UVM's final scorer with a time 29:29.4.
The Dartmouth Carnival wraps up tomorrow with another slalom race for the alpine teams, this one counts towards the carnival point totals. On the Nordic front the men's and women's team will compete in 10k freestyle tomorrow. Action begins at 9 a.m. with the men's slalom tomorrow from the Dartmouth Skiway.
