Mina Poppas won the 200 free Saturday night and first year
Jackie House was right behind her in second place. The pair were the Catamounts top finishers on day three of the America East Championships from WPI. After three days of competition UVM sits in third place with 477 points. UNH is currently first with 536.5 points, they lead UMBC by four points entering the final day of competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Poppas earned her first career America East title in the 200 free. Her time of 1:49.81 was 1.53 seconds faster than House who placed second finishing in 1:51.34.
- Poppas is the first Catamount to win the 200 free since Colleen Clark '10 who took the event in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009.
- First year Charlie Ramey placed fifth in the 200 free in a time of 1:52.08, earning an additional 14 team points Friday.
- Kira Parker continued her illustrious America East career Friday earning All-Conference honors in the 100 back. She placed third overall with a time of 55.90. First year Alexis Torykian placed fifth overall in the final for UVM.
- In the prelims of the event Torykian set a new UVM first year record with a time of 56.76.
- The third day of competition wrapped up with the 400 medley relay. UVM's team of Parker, Jenny O'Neil, Hally Laney and House placed third overall with a time of 3:49.94. UMBC's team won the event in a new facility record time of 3:41.34.
WHO'S NEXT
The 2022 America East Swimming and Diving Championships will wrap up on Sunday. UVM will compete in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and 400 free relay. A full schedule for the meet is available at
