COACH'S QUOTE
"I cannot begin to put into words how special this group of people I had the opportunity to work with was this season," said Head Coach
Gerry Cournoyer. "This was a magical weekend for this program. One that I will never forget, Go Cats!"
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Church crushed the field in the 1650 free winning the event by 15.08 seconds. In the midst of the 1650 event she set a new program record in the 1000. Her split of 10:09.48 is a new first year and varsity record.
- Kira Parker earned her third individual All-Conference honor of the meet finishing second overall in the 100 free with a time of 51.49. Mina Poppas placed fourth, earning 15 team points with a mark of 51.73.
- In the 200 back Beth Hartog and Charlie Ramey earned 19 team points for Vermont placing fourth and fifth overall. Hartog swam a 2:02.75 and Ramey was .30 seconds behind her.
- The Catamounts closed out the 2022 championship with a win in the 400 free relay. Just like the 200 free relay Parker, Jackie House, Cailin Campbell and Poppas claimed the title and all-conference honors with a winning time of 3:24.72.
- With the 200 free relay win UVM became just the eighth team in America East history to sweep all three freestyle relays. The 200, 400 and 800 free have been contested in the same championship meet 31 times.
