The penultimate carnival of the 2022 EISA campaign is set for this weekend at the 98th Middlebury Carnival. The cross country races will take place at the Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton while the alpine races will be contested at the Middlebury Snow Bowl.

NORDIC TEAM MEMBERS HEAD TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Bjorn Westervelt,
Annie McColgan and
Finn Sweet won't be available this weekend as they've headed out to represent the Catamounts on the world stage. McColgan and Sweet are headed to the 2022 World Junior Championships in Norway while Westervelt heads to Utah for Biathlon Junior World Championships.

JONES RECEIVES WEEKLY EISA AWARDS
After the 99th Dartmouth Carnival
Caroline Jones was honored as EISA Skier of the Week, given to the highest point getters on a given weekend (although you can only earn the honor once a season). With a double slalom due to snow conditions Jones was the only skier on the podium in both races, placing third on Friday and second on Saturday.

RETURNING DEPTH FOR THE CATAMOUNTS
With the added year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Catamounts 2022 roster is stacked with returning talent. UVM returns five All-Americans from the 2021 NCAA Championships.
Mathias Tefre was the National Champion in the slalom and he was joined by
Justine Clément (slalom) and
Francesca English (GS) as First Team All-Americans.
Anna Bizyukova (classic) and
David Frisk (slalom) were Second Team All-Americans along with Tefre (GS) and English (slalom).

DRURY MAKES QUARTERFINALS OF SKI CROSS
Early Friday morning Kevin Drury '14 competed in his second Winter Olympics for Canada in Ski Cross. Drury qualified for the quarterfinals but was edged out in a photo finish by four-hundredths of a second.
