COACH'S QUOTE
"It was a really good day for our women in the technical events," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "Sofia's performance in the pole vault was exceptionally good and Lauren was solid all the way through the pentathlon. Her hurdles were excellent to get it started. Every point matters so I was really pleased that some who weren't seeded to score like Carolena and Payton, had career best days. Sonia was great in the 400 as well. Both
Alex Warner and
Alex Siaton ran great and positioned themselves well for finals. The men's 5k guys didn't score, but all ran UVM top-10 times in the fastest AE 5k ever. We're looking forward to day two."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wittmann logged a career-best pole vault of 3.75 meters, which tied for the top mark in the competition. The junior's mark is the second-highest pole vault in Vermont indoor history. However, Maine's Yasmen Farag claimed the top spot after a jump-off. Payton Silar was seventh with a career-best 3.35-meter vault.
- Triarsi finished second in the women's pentathlon with a score of 3,370 points. Triarsi posted the top 60-meter hurdles time of 8.90 seconds and had the second-best high jump and long jump of 1.60 meters and 5.25 meters, respectively. The junior's 60-meter hurdles mark was a personal best.
- First year, Carolena Bellini logged a long jump distance of 5.57 meters to finish fifth in the competition. Bellini's mark was also a new personal record.
- The Catamounts got qualifiers in both the men's and women's 400-meter preliminaries. Alex Siaton qualified in the 400-meter dash on the men's side with a time 48.13 seconds. Sonia John posted a time of 56.59 seconds to qualify for tomorrow's women's finals.
