For the first time since 2020 the Catamounts will host the UVM Carnival this weekend at the Craftsbury Oudoor Center in Craftsbury and the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club and Academy part of the Stowe Mountain Resort. Due to the forecasted snowfall, significant changes have already been made to the weekend schedule. Please stay tuned to

UPDATE: Saturday's Giant Slalom races at Mt. Mansfield Ski Club and Academy, part of the Stowe Mountain Resort have been canceled. This weekend's alpine races will be made up later in the EISA circuit.

LEBBY AND OVRUM RECEIVE WEEKLY EISA AWARDS
After the SMC Carnival weekend Vermont's Matias Ovrum and
Stephanie Lebby were honored as EISA Skiers of the Week, given to the highest point getters on a given weekend (although you can only earn the honor once a season). Ovrum won both races at the SMC Carnival claiming the 10k with a time of 23:45.2 and the 5k with a time of 12:29.5. Lebby earned a fifth-place finish in the GS and a ninth-place finish in the slalom.

RETURNING DEPTH FOR THE CATAMOUNTS
With the added year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Catamounts 2022 roster is stacked with returning talent. UVM returns five All-Americans from the 2021 NCAA Championships.
Mathias Tefre was the National Champion in the slalom and he was joined by
Justine Clément (slalom) and
Francesca English (GS) as First Team All-Americans.
Anna Bizyukova (classic) and
David Frisk (slalom) were Second Team All-Americans along with Tefre (GS) and English (slalom).

LAST TIME AT THE UVM CARNIVAL
The Catamounts accrued 903 points at the 2020 UVM Carnival defeating Middlebury by 28 points. UVM was led two years ago by individual wins from
Karl Schulz (10k freestyle),
Ben Ogden (classic sprint) and
Marina Vilanova (giant slalom).

CATAMOUNT ALUMS PART OF RECORD CONTINGENT OF UVM ATHLETES AT WINTER OLYMPICS
Six current and former UVM skiers will be competing at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Three Catamounts will be representing the United States in cross-country skiing. Senior Nordic skierÂ
Ben Ogden and former UVM Nordic All-American siblings Scott '14 and Caitlin '12 Patterson will represent the red, white and blue in Beijing. It will be Ogden's Olympic debut and the second straight appearance for the Pattersons. Scott finished 11th in the 50k Classic at the 2018 Olympics, the best finish ever by an American cross-country skier in the event.

In alpine skiing 2019 graduatesÂ
Paula Moltzan and Laurence St. Germain will be competing for the United States and Canada. Both have been regulars in the top-10 on the World Cup circuit since leaving UVM. St. German finished 15th in the slalom at the 2018 PyeongChang Games while Moltzan will be making her Olympic debut.

Kevin Drury '14 will be competing in his second Olympics for Canada in Ski Cross. Drury was the 2019-20 Crystal Globe winner on the FIS circuit. He was either the winner or runner up in seven of the ten competitions that season. Following the season, he was named Alpine Canada's Ski Cross Male Athlete of the Year. At the PyeongChang Olympics he finished fourth overall in Ski Cross. Men's Ski Cross is scheduled for Friday, February 18.
