PARK CITY, Utah – Senior and US Olympian
Ben Ogden won the second individual national title of his career Thursday claiming the 10k Classic for the Catamounts on a busy first day of competition at the 2022 NCAA Skiing Championships in Utah.
Anna Bizyukova,
Jacob Nystedt,
Joachim Jagge Lindstol and
Marina Vilanova also earned All-America honors on the opening day. After the first day of competition UVM sits in fourth place with 235 points. They trail Utah by 51.5 points halfway through the championship.

Ogden won the Catamounts 70th individual national title with a time of 23:43.1 in the 10k Classic. He finished 6.5 seconds faster than Denver's Andreas Kirkeng. He is the first Catamount to win multiple individual NCAA titles since Anja Gruber '14. Ogden is just the fourth Catamount to ever win the title in the classical.
Jacob Nystedt earned his best-ever NCAA finish placing sixth overall for Vermont in a time of 24:35.6. He earned Second Team All-America honors. Matias Ovrum earned seven team point for UVM placing 24th in a time of 25:54.7.
Bizyukova earned the Catamounts other podium finish of the day placing second overall in the 5k Classic. She tied for second place with Utah's Sophia Laukli in a time of 13:36.3. Laukli and Bizyukova finished 13.5 seconds behind the Utes Novie McCabe.
Waverly Gebhardt placed 16th for Vermont in a time of 14:29.5 earning 15 team points. Her teammate
Haley Brewster finished in 17th 2.1 seconds later.
Joachim Jagge Lindstol was the Catamounts top-finisher in the rescheduled giant slalom competition on Thursday. He placed ninth overall, earning Second Team All-America honors with a two-run time of 1:58.96. Colorado's Filip Forejtek claimed the title and was the only skier in the field with a top-five time in both runs.
Mathias Tefre was tied for 15th Thursday with a combined run time of 1:59.63. Making his NCAA debut
Mackenzie Wood placed 24th with a two-run time of 2:00.37.
Marina Vilanova earned Second Team All-America citation with a tenth-place finish. Her two-run time was 2:05.35. Colorado's Magdalena Luczak won the GS, she had the fastest first and second run in the field. In her NCAA debut
Moa Clementson placed 13th with combined run time of 2:05.71. Also in her debut
Stephanie Lebby was 18th with a two-run time of 2:06.47.
The alpine portion of the competition will wrap up tomorrow from Park City Mountain Resort with the slalom. Action begins with the men's slalom beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by the women at 12:30 p.m. Second runs are slated for 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. All the action will stream live at NCAA.com.
