Carolyn Carrera has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. The league announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Carrera led the Catamounts' defense with six ground balls and six caused turnovers in UVM's 13-10 win over Siena on Saturday (Mar. 5). The senior's six caused turnovers were a career-high and are tied for the highest single-game total by an America East defender this season.
The Harriman, N.Y. native has tallied a league-high 13 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls through five games. Vermont leads America East in caused turnovers per game (13.4) and is No. 2 in ground balls per game (20.1).
The Catamounts return to action on Wednesday (Mar. 9) when they visit Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The opening draw is slated for 4 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
