COACH'S QUOTE
"Great conference win for our guys on the road today, head coach
Chris Feifs said. "Glad we were able to fight through a rocky third quarter to finish the game. We've got a big week of practice ahead as we prepare for UAlbany."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vermont offense wasted little time getting the scoring started finding the game's first goal courtesy of Brock Haley at the 13:35 mark of the first half.
- That started a 14-0 run that stretched midway through the second quarter.
- The Cats had eight different goal scorers in the first half.
- Ryan Cornell made six saves in the first half and once again got involved in the offense igniting a transition push that resulted in a Michael McCormack rocket to make it 14-0.
- UMass Lowell struck for the first four goals of the second half but after a River Hawk turnover, UVM stemmed the tide as Paul Governale picked the top right corner in transition for his first career goal to make it 18-6.
- The River Hawks cut the score to 18-9 with 13:39 to go in the game but UVM closed the contest on a 5-0 run highlighted by three goals on a single man-up opportunity.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In three career games against UMass Lowell, McCormack now has 16 goals – the most for any active Catamount against the River Hawks.
- Vermont's 23 goals matched a program record against Division I opponents and has only been done twice before.
- Four Cats registered hat tricks which is the first time that has happened since at least 2007 (online stats date back to 2008)
