RUMFORD, Maine – Ben Ogden, the 2022 USCCSA Men's Nordic National Skier of the Year, made a triumphant return to the EISA circuit Friday morning helping the Catamounts claim two podium spots and five top-10 finishes as UVM climbed the standings. Ogden's 7.5k Freestyle win was the 14th win of his EISA career. After the second day of racing Vermont sits in third place with 337 points. Dartmouth holds the halfway point lead with 431 points. Friday's scheduled slalom at Sunday River was postponed until tomorrow.

Ogden completed the 7.5k circuit in 18:08.1 finishing 5.6 seconds ahead of his UVM teammate
Jacob Nystedt who placed second. UVM's final scorer of the day was
Bjorn Westervelt who finished eighth overall with a time of 18:53.6. In his first collegiate race in the green and gold Peter Bakken placed 11th for the Catamounts.
Aidan Burt also finished in the top-20 placing 19th.
Haley Brewster was Vermont's top finisher on the women's side in the 7.5k Freestyle. She finished in a time of 22:14.9 placing fifth. UNH's Jasmine Lyons won the event Friday with an impressive time of 20:54.5, 31.5 seconds ahead of the closest competition.
Annie McColgan was Vermont's second scorer placing ninth overall in a time of 22:32.1.
Waverly Gebhardt was 15th with a time of 23:01.3. In her collegiate debut
Molly Moening came in 25th for Vermont.
The Bates Carnival will conclude tomorrow morning in Maine. The rescheduled slalom races are set for first runs at 9:15 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. at Sunday River. The Nordic squads will compete in a 10k Freestyle starting with the men at 10 a.m. and the women at noon.
WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES UPDATE
At the 2022 World University Games hosted in Lake Placid, NY sophomore
Finn Sweet took home a silver medal in the Mixed Team Sprint this afternoon at Whiteface Mountain. Sweet and his female teammate Renae Anderson finished in a time of 20:51.87 for the United States.
