After the Nordic team claimed the first half of the SMC Carnival with four individual wins and 506 points both squads are back in action this weekend at the 2023 UNH Carnival. The alpine team will compete this weekend at Burke Mountain in Vermont and the Nordic squad will compete at the Jackson Ski Touring Center

GEBHARDT AND NYSTEDT NAMED NORDIC SKIER OF THE WEEK
Vermont's
Waverly Gebhardt and
Jacob Nystedt were named Nordic Skier of the Week following the SMC Carnival last weekend. Gebhardt won the 15k Classic Saturday and finished second in the skate sprint. She has now finished in the top-3 in three straight EISA races. Nystedt placed 11th in the skate sprint and then was second in the 15k Classic. He has finished second in three of the four EISA Nordic races this season.

ACKERMANN AND BREWSTER HEADED TO WHISTLER
Vermont's
Haley Brewster is headed to the Junior World Championships while
Marielle Ackermann will compete at the World U23 Championships. Both competitions are set for this weekend in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Brewster and Ackermman are expected to compete in the Classic Sprint and 10k Skate.

LAST YEAR AT THE UNH CARNIVAL
Last season the EISA campaign wrapped at the UNH Carnival on the last weekend of February. The Catamounts claimed their 38th EISA Championship with a total of 981 points, a whopping 253 more than the closest competition. Vermont won six of the eight events highlighted by an alpine sweep by
Joachim Jagge Lindstol and a Nordic sweep by
Ben Ogden.
Moa Clementson also claimed the slalom for Vermont.
CATAMOUNTS RETURNING AFTER RUNNER-UP FINISH IN 2022
At the 2022 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted in Utah the Catamounts finished second overall with 511.5 points. It was their second National Runner-Up in the last three seasons.
Ben Ogden became the third Catamount in program history to sweep the Nordic races claiming the national title in the 10k Classic and 20k Freestyle. Vermont received 11 All-America citations in total.

HISTORY OF SUCCESS
The Catamounts second place finish at the NCAAs marked the third time since 2014 UVM has been National Runner-Up. It is the seventh time under Director of SkiingÂ
Bill Reichelt the Catamounts have finished in the top-three. Vermont now has 6 NCAA team championships, 72 individual national champions, 409 All-American citations and 38 EISA Championships in program history.
