EAST BURKE, Vt. – Joachim Jagge Lindstol won the giant slalom and
Jacob Nystedt won the 5k Freestyle Friday leading the way for Vermont as they claimed four podium places on day one of the UNH Carnival. At the halfway point the Catamounts are in first place with 425 points, the host Wildcats sit in second place with 396 points.

Team Scores
Nystedt led another strong men's Nordic performance from the Catamounts. He earned his fourth podium of the young season with a time of 10:48.3. His margin of victory over UNH's Scott Schulz was 9.2 seconds.
Finn Sweet earned his first podium of the EISA campaign with a time of 11:03.2, good for third place.
Greg Burt was UVM's final scorer placing sixth overall in a time of 11:09.0.
Bjorn Westervelt (8th, 11:15.8) also earned a top-10 finish.
Lindstol won in his first race of the EISA season with a two-run time of 2:07.33. Lindstol had the fastest first run in the field with a time of 1:03.28 and the fastest second run in the field with a time of 1:04.05.
Mathias Tefre placed second overall with a combined time of 2:08.24. His first run time of 1:03.82 was the second fastest in the field.
Diego Holscher was UVM's third scorer of the day placing 15th overall with a two-run time of 2:10.59.
In the women's 5k Freestyle
Annie McColgan was the Catamounts best finisher on the day placing fifth overall with a time of 13:00.6. UNH's Lucina Anderson won the day with a time of 12:44.1.
Libby Tuttle also earned a top-10 spot placing ninth overall with a time of 13:06.5.
Molly Moening earned 25 EISA points for Vermont placing 15th with a time of 13:15.5.
Ella Renzoni was the Catamounts top finisher in the giant slalom, placing 11th with a two-run time of 2:14.17. Dartmouth's Allie Resnick won the event in a combined run time of 2:11.75.
Caroline Jones tied for 14th in the field with a two-run time of 2:14.35, earning 26 EISA points.
Moa Clementson was UVM's final scorer placing 19th with a combined run time of 2:14.79.
The alpine and Nordic ski teams will return to action tomorrow morning for the final day of the UNH Carnival. The Nordic teams will compete in 20k Classic's tomorrow from the Jackson Ski Touring Center. The men will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women at 11:30 a.m. The first run in the slalom races from Burke Mountain are set for 9 a.m. for the men and 9:55 a.m. for the women.
