EAST BURKE, Vt. – Mathias Tefre won the slalom and
Jacob Nystedt won the 20k Classic Saturday leading the way for Vermont as they claimed seven podium places on a huge second day from the UNH Carnival. Vermont finished first overall in the season's second completed carnival with 916 points. Middlebury finished second with 782 points.

Team Scores
Tefre had the fastest first (54.11) and second (56.94) runs in the field to claim his second straight slalom title of the EISA campaign. His combined run time was 1:51.05.
Joachim Jagge Lindstol earned his second podium of the weekend placing second overall .23 seconds behind Tefre.
Cole Palchak picked up his second career top-10 finishing in a tie for eighth place with a two-run time of 1:54.08.
Moa Clementson and
Caroline Jones both found the podium in the women's slalom. Clementson placed second overall with a two-run time of 2:01.67. Her second run time of 55.34 was the second fastest in the field. Jones combined run time of 2:02.40 was good for third overall Saturday. Dartmouth's Allie Resnick won the day by a 1.30 margin. The Catamounts' final scorer was
Marina Vilanova. She placed 14th overall with a two-run time of 2:05.94.
Nystedt completed the weekend sweep with a time of 54:01.2 in the 20k Classic. His second straight win came with a margin of 9.7 seconds ahead of his teammate
Finn Sweet. Sweet earned his second podium of the weekend with a time of 54:10.9.
Greg Burt earned 35 EISA points for UVM placing eighth overall with a time of 55:00.2.
First year
Molly Moening earned her first career podium Saturday with a third-place finish in the women's 20k Classic. She finished in a time of 1:03:54.7. Middlebury's Shea Brams won the event in a time of 1:03:27.3.
Libby Tuttle (1:04:56.5, 7th) and
Camille Bolduc (1:05:32.0, 9th) also earned top-10 finishes for the Catamounts.
On the international stage graduate student
Ben Ogden continued to impress Saturday, competing in the Classic Sprint from Les Rousses, France. He was seventh-fastest in qualifying and won his opening quarterfinal but was not able to advance through the semifinals and finished 11th overall. At the Junior World Championships in Whistler, Alberta
Haley Brewster placed 32nd overall in the sprints, narrowly missing qualifying for the quarterfinals.
Next weekend the alpine team will compete in their portion of the 2023 Saint Michael's Carnival. Giant slalom will be Friday and Slalom on Saturday from Smuggler's Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, Vt. Vermont holds a 74-point advantage over second place Middlebury following the Nordic events last weekend at the Rikert Nordic Center.
