WATERVILLE, Maine –
Haley Brewster,
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst and
Finn Sweet earned podium places Friday on the opening day of the 2024 Colby Carnival. Brewster continued her blistering start to the EISA campaign winning her third straight event. After the first day of competition the Catamounts sit in second place with 402 points, 51.5 behind Dartmouth.

Day 1 Results
Brewster claimed the 7.5k Freestyle with a time of 18:57, finishing 35 seconds ahead of UNH's Jasmine Lyons. She has now won all three women's Nordic races this season.
Annie McColgan earned her first top-10 of the season placing seventh overall with a time of 20:02.
Libby Tuttle was the Catamounts final scorer, finishing in 20:13 good for tenth.
Marielle Ackermann (12
th, 20:26) and
Camille Bolduc (15
th, 20:45) also earned top-15 finishes Friday morning.
In the men's 7.5k Freestyle
Finn Sweet earned his first podium of the campaign placing second overall with a time of 16:46. Dartmouth's John Steel Hagenbuch won the day, finishing 27 seconds faster than Sweet.
Owen Young was Vermont's next scorer placing 24th with a time of 18:03.
Aidan Burt had his best finish of the year finishing 28th in a time of 18:12.
On the slopes at Sugarloaf the alpine portion of the EISA circuit began in earnest after last week's postponement of the UVM Carnival alpine races. Plymouth State transfer
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst earned her earned sixth career EISA podium in the GS to lead the Catamounts on Friday. She had the second fastest first run time in the field at 52.94 and she finished in a combined run time of 1:46.74, good for third place. Dartmouth's Allie Resnick paced the field Friday with two-run time of 1:46.52. Justine Clément tied for sixth overall for UVM with a combined run time of 1:47.73. Cydnie Timmerman was UVM's final scorer on the day finishing 15th overall with a two-run time of 1:48.45.
In his collegiate debut first year
Magnus Berge Styren led the Catamounts in the men's GS. He placed fourth overall, narrowly missing the podium by .05 seconds. His two-run time was 1:43.43. Saint Michael's Gray Flanagan won the event finishing one-tenth of a second faster than Styren.
Diego Holscher earned his first career top-10 placing eighth overall in a combined run time of 1:44.17.
Mackenzie Wood was Vermont's final scorer, placing 19th in a two-run time of 1:45.37.
The Colby Carnival wraps up tomorrow from Maine. The Nordic squads will compete in a 20k Classic Mass Start, the men will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women at 11:30 a.m. The alpine teams will duel in the first slalom competition of the year. First run is anticipated to begin at 9:10 a.m. before the weekend wraps up with a second run at 12:45.
