SKIING NOTEBOOK
The 2024 UVM Carnival will wrap up this weekend in Stowe as the Catamounts host the alpine races from Mt. Mansfield Ski Club's Main Street. After the four completed Nordic races UVM sits in third place with 367 points. Middlebury is in second with 385 points and Dartmouth leads the way with 490 points.

ALPINE SQUAD EARNS THREE PODIUMS ON OPENING WEEKEND
Last weekend at the season-opening alpine races the Vermont alpine squad earned three podiums to kick off the year. Hanna Larsson Nathhorst finished third in the GS and Justine Clément (2nd) and Cydnie Timmermann (3rd) placed on the podium in the slalom.   
 
SWEET NAMED NORDIC SKIER OF THE WEEK
Junior Nordic skier Finn Sweet was named EISA Nordic Skier of the Week on Tuesday. He finished second in the 7.5k Freestyle and third in the 20k Classic to earn two podiums last weekend at the Colby Carnival. He has finished in the top-10 in three of the four Nordic races this season.
 
LAST TIME AT THE UVM CARNIVAL
The Catamounts last home carnival was in January of 2022. The Catamounts earned the most points in all four Nordic races at Craftsbury that year for a total of 518 points. As a first year Finn Sweet won his first career EISA race taking the 10k Classic on the second day of the UVM Carnival. The 2022 alpine races were canceled due to 10+ inches of snow falling in Stowe over a 24-hour period.
 
HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Under Director of Skiing Bill Reichelt the Catamounts have finished in the NCAA top-three seven times. Vermont now has 6 NCAA team championships, 73 individual national champions, 415 All-American citations and 39 EISA Championships in program history.
 
CATAMOUNTS HONOR FRED FAYETTE '69
Last spring former Vermont student-athlete and long-time Nordic volunteer coach Fred Fayette '69 passed away. To honor his memory the Catamounts new Nordic race suits will feature "Fred" on the collar.
