CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – Justine Clément earned the Catamounts first alpine win of the season claiming the slalom Saturday at Burke Mountain as Vermont had eight top-five finishers across the four races to increase their lead at the 2024 Harvard Carnival. After the second day of competition the Catamounts sit in first place with 665.5 points, 97.5 ahead of Dartmouth. The Harvard Carnival will wrap up tomorrow with GS races.

Clément headlined a dominant day from the UVM women on the slopes, they placed four of the top-five finishers Saturday. She had the fastest first run and never looked back taking the competition with a two-run time of 1:29.81.
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst earned her second podium of the season placing second, .69 seconds behind Clément.
Moa Clementson (4th, 1:30.78) and Cydnie Timmerman (5th, 1:31.22) rounded out the Catamounts great day on the hill.
The women's Nordic squad had a solid morning placing four skiers in the top-10 of the 7.5k Freestyle.
Libby Tuttle earned her first podium of the season, placing second overall with a time of 18:25.9. Her teammate
Annie McColgan was right behind her in third place to secure her first podium of the year, finishing 10.5 seconds later. UNH's Lucinda Anderson won the race in a time of 18:10.5.
Marielle Ackermann made it two sixth-place finishes on the weekend with a time of 18:47.7.
Camille Bolduc was tied for 10th with a time of 18:57.5.
The men's Nordic team also placed four skiers in the top-10.
Finn Sweet posted his fourth consecutive top-five finish with a time of 16:33.9, good for fourth place. Harvard's Remi Drolet won the day for the second straight day with a time of 16:01.6.
Bjorn Westervelt earned his finish of the year placing fifth with a time of 16:39.0. First years
Owen Young (8th, 16:50.4) and
Benon Brattebo (10th, 16:52.5) earned their first career top-10s for the Catamounts.
Mackenzie Wood was the Catamounts top finisher in the men's slalom placing 12th in a combined run time of 1:27.04. Dartmouth's Daniel Gillis won the event with a two-run time of 1:25.57, .45 seconds faster than the nearest competition.
Cole Palchak earned his best finish of the season coming in 14th with a combined time of 1:27.36.
Magnus Berge Styren closed out the scoring for Vermont with a tied for 19th finish (1:27.50).
The 2024 Harvard Carnival will wrap up tomorrow morning from Burke Mountain. Friday's rescheduled GS races are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. As always check UVMAthletics.com for any updates to the schedule. The Nordic team will return to action on Friday, February 9 at the Dartmouth Carnival. Friday will feature 1.3k Skate Sprints from the Oak Hill Outdoor Center.
