STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – First year
Magnus Berge Styren earned First Team All-America honors for the Catamounts, placing fifth overall in the giant slalom, on Day 1 of the 2024 NCAA Skiing Championships Wednesday from Steamboat Springs Resort. After the first day of competition UVM sits in fourth place with 101 points. Utah currently sits in first place at the quarter pole with 154.5 points.

Styren earned All-America honors for the first time in his career with a two-run time of 1:45.32 in the GS. His first run time of 51.16 was eighth fastest in the field and his second run time of 53.16 was seventh fastest in the field. Utah's Mikkel Solbaken took the national championship with a combined time of 1:44.78.
Declan McCormack placed 11th overall for the Catamounts, earning 20 team points with a two-run time of 1:45.67. Making his NCAA debut
Kyle Alexander was 14th overall with a combined time of 1:46.21. Vermont earned 66 team points on the men's GS, second-most in the field.
Justine Clément was the Catamounts top scorer in the women's giant slalom. She placed 15th overall with a two-run time of 1:57.74, earning 16 team points for UVM. Colorado's Magdalena Luczak won the day with a combined run time of 1:54.51, she had the fastest first and second run in the field.
Cydnie Timmermann was 21st overall with a combined run time of 1:58.29.
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst was seven hundredths of a second behind Timmermann in 22nd.
Nordic skiing will open their first day of the championships with the men's and women's 7.5k freestyle at Howelsen Hill starting tomorrow morning at 12 p.m. (ET) The action will be streamed live on NCAA.com at
