SKIING NOTEBOOK
Vermont Nordic and Alpine Ski get set for the fourth carnival of the season, competing in the Dartmouth Carnival that begins on Friday (Feb. 7) and concludes Saturday (Feb. 8). The Nordic action will take place in Hanover, NH at the Oak Hill Outdoor Center while Alpine will race in Etna, NH from the Dartmouth Skiway.

Tomorrow, Nordic begins their portion of the carnival racing in a 7.5km classic interval skate while Alpine competes in the GS race. On Saturday, Nordic concludes with a 20km freestyle mass start and Alpine will finish with the slalom race.

Last time Nordic Ski competed in a 7.5km classic interval skate and a 20km freestyle mass start was this season during the St. Lawrence Carnival, seeing
Finn Sweet and
Petter Bakken finished second and third in the 7.5km skate while
Kristin Maltun Helland finished in third in the women's 20km freestyle mass start.

Vermont most recently competed in the Saint Micheal's Carnival, finishing in fifth place with 593.5 total points.
Annie McColgan shined, winning her first career EISA race finishing in first during the 10km skate individual start. Helland placed third for the Catamounts in the 10km skate, earning a podium finish for the third time this season. On the slopes,
Mackenzie Wood raced to a third-place finish during the giant slalom, securing the lone podium finish for the Alpine team during the Saint Michael's Carnival.

LAST TIME AT DARTMOUTH CARNIVAL
The Vermont Catamounts dominated Day 1 of the Dartmouth Carnival last year, earning six podium finishes to claim first place with 484 points, 118 ahead of Dartmouth.
Declan McCormack and
Cydnie Timmermann led the charge with wins in the GS races, while
Benon Brattebo and
Marielle Ackermann triumphed in the Freestyle Sprints. McCormack's consistent performance secured him a second victory, while Timmermann earned her first-ever EISA win. Ackermann's victory in the sprints capped a stellar day, and Brattebo earned his first career EISA win in the men's sprint final.
On Day 2, Vermont continued their strong performance with five podium finishes, including a women's slalom sweep.
Cydnie Timmermann claimed her second win of the weekend in the slalom, while
Magnus Berge Styren took the top spot in the men's slalom, marking his first career victory. In cross-country, Brenon Brattebo led the men in the 15k Classic with an eighth-place finish, while
Annie McColgan secured third place in the women's race. With a total of 948 points, Vermont clinched their second straight EISA Carnival win, finishing 154 points ahead of Dartmouth.

Bill Reichelt the Catamounts have finished in the NCAA top-three seven times. Vermont now has 6 NCAA team championships, 73 individual national champions, 419 All-American citations and 40 EISA Championships in program history.
