KINGFIELD, ME. - On Friday afternoon, the UVM Alpine team opened their 2026 EISA season competing in Day one of the Colby Carnival in Kingfield, Maine from Sugarloaf Mountain. Friday's competition was the Slalom race with the Catamounts finishing the day overall in third place with 177 points.
Cydnie Timmermann shined for Vermont, earning her first podium finish of the season placing second overall.

The UVM men's Alpine team got the day off to a hot start with 104 points, the second most of any school. Four of the six men alpine skiers placed in the top 25 finishers.
Cailin Apple finished with a team-high sixth place finish, racing a time of 1:28:92, a dominant showing for his first collegiate race in the green and gold.
Felix Lindenmayer finished ninth with a time of 1:29:29, starting the year off strong with a top ten result. First-year skier
Sebastian Weiss placed 15th with a time of 1:29:56 to start off his collegiate career.
Magnus Berge Styren placed 22nd with a two-run time of 1:30:13.

The UVM women's Alpine team rounded off the day with 73 points and 2 skiers placing in the top 15 finishers. Timmermann placed second with a time of 1:32:15, earning a podium spot on her first race of the season. First-year skier
Sara Stiel finished in 15th with a two-run time of 1:33:97 in her collegiate debut as a Catamount.

The Vermont alpine squad will compete in Day two of the Colby Carnival tomorrow (Jan. 17) racing the GS to wrap up their portion of the carnival. The run times for Men's and Women's GS will be announced on UVMAthletics.com and UVMSkiing social media once released. (All times subject to change).
