WATERVILLE, ME. – On Saturday morning, the UVM Nordic team concluded the Colby Carnival during day two of their competitions, competing in the 7.5k CL Int. from Quarry Road in Waterville, ME. Three Vermont skiers placed on the podium including
Fin Bailey,
Luke Rizio, and
Haley Brewster. With the two top finishers, the UVM Men's Nordic team earned the most points out of all competing schools (136). With the help of Brewster's third place finish, the UVM Women's Nordic team earned 113 points, just one point shy from Dartmouth's first place. Overall, UVM finished the Colby Carnival in second place with 810.5 total points. The Big Green won their second carnival of the season garnering 869 total points.

Day Two Colby Carnival Results (Nordic)
The UVM men's Nordic team continued their dominance during day two of the Colby Carnival, seeing five of six skiers place in the top ten of finishers. Bailey led the charge and placed first with a run time of 20:45.8, notching his first career win and 50 EISA points. Rizio followed behind placing second with a run time of 21:04.1, earning his first podium appearance, and adding 47 EISA points to the team total. Coming off of his first-place win on day one,
Owen Young continued to excel, placing fifth with a run time of 21:10.4 and tallying 39 EISA points.
The women Nordic team finished day two of the Colby Carnival with a strong team performance, placing five of eight skiers in the top 20 of finishers. Brewster took third place with a run time of 23:36.7 and earned 44 EISA points for the team. First year,
Lena Poduska placed fourth with a run time of 24:12.6, notching a new career best placement and 41 EISA points.
Kristin Maltun Helland finished 13th with a run time of 24:39.3 and 28 crucial EISA points. The women's team finished in second overall with 113 points, trailing by one to Dartmouth.
Overall, the Catamounts had seven podium finishes over their two day portion of the Colby Carnival.

The Catamounts will be back in action in one week (Jan. 30), for the Dartmouth Carnival from Oak Hill in Hanover, N.H. The UVM Alpine team will also be competing in the Dartmouth Carnival (Jan. 30), from Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme N.H. Day one of the carnival will include the GS for Alpine and the 7.5k CL Int. race for Nordic.
