AMESBURY, Mass – The Vermont women's hockey team has been selected sixth in the 2026-27 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the squads highest projected finish since 2023-24 when UVM was selected to finish second. The Catamounts garnered 54 total points in the poll as the league made the announcement on Wednesday morning.

Northeastern was selected first collecting 89 total points and eight first-place votes followed by defending Hockey East champions, UConn, in second with 83 total points and two first-place votes. Boston College was selected in third with 64 total points while Boston University and Holy Cross tied for fourth with 60 points each. Vermont was selected sixth compiling 54 points followed by New Hampshire in seventh (42 points), Maine in eighth (33 points), Providence in ninth (31 points), and Merrimack in tenth (24 points).
Vermont finished in sixth place last year before knocking off third-seeded Boston College on the road in the Hockey East Quarterfinals, advancing to the programs fifth ever semifinal appearance.
This season, UVM welcomes seven newcomers to the 2026-27 roster including two transfers, and five first year players. Sophomore defender Linnea Misner transfers from Robert Morris after garnering All-AHA Rookie Team honors while sophomore goaltender
Tara Bach transfers from Mercyhurst in the AHA after earning a 6-1-0 record in seven starts and posting a .955 save percentage and .900 goals against average with three shutouts. Vermont's five first year players consist of four forwards and one defender.

Vermont opens the 2026-27 campaign with an exhibition matchup against Concordia on Saturday, September 19 at 3 p.m. The Catamounts Home Opener is set for Friday, October 2 at 11 a.m. as UVM welcomes No. 9 Minnesota Duluth to Gutterson Fieldhouse for the first time since 2017. Friday's contest against the Bulldogs is also Vermont's Catamount Classroom Game presented by Community Bank.
