CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – Former Catamount standout and U.S. Olympian Caitlin Patterson '12 won her second national title of the 2019 U.S. Cross-Country Ski Championships in the 20k skate Sunday at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.

Patterson finished first overall with a time of 59:23.1. She was the only woman to finish under the hour mark and she was 40 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Coupled with her win Thursday in the 10k Classic she has won five national titles in the last two years at Nationals.
Sophomore
Lina Sutro was the top-finisher out of the current crop of Catamounts. She finished fifth overall with a time of 1:00:49.4.
Margie Freed (29th, 1:04:51.8) and
Lizzie Larkins (41st, 1:06:24.3) were also top-50 finishers for Vermont.
Scott Patterson '14 was the top male finisher with ties to UVM in the men's 30k Skate. He finished third overall with a time of 1:18:21.4. Current student-athletes

Ian Moore (40th, 1:24:08.0) were top-50 finishers for Vermont.
Vermont begins the EISA season this coming weekend at the St. Lawrence Carnival January 11-13 in Lake Placid, N.Y. On Friday (Jan. 11) the alpine action gets underway with the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain. Then on Saturday the Nordic team kickoffs of the year with a 5k/10k Skate at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
