CRAFTSBURY, Vt. –
Matias Øvrum and
Marina Vilanova led the Catamounts on day two of the inaugural Harvard Carnival Saturday. Ovrum won the Men's 20k Classic in Craftsbury while Vilanova earned her first career win in the giant slalom from Waterville Valley. The Catamounts won the first carnival of the 2020 EISA circuit with a total of 867 points, four points more than Middlebury, the second-place finisher.

For the second straight day, the men's Nordic squad showcased its depth earning five of the top-10 finishes. Ovrum won the 20k Classic with a time of 54:21.6, he finished less than a tenth of a second ahead of Harvard's Remi Drolet to claim the top spot.
Ben Ogden came in fourth place with a time of 54:26.0.
Bill Harmeyer was the Catamounts final scorer placing seventh with a time of 55:11.2.
Finn O'Connell (7th, 55:29.5) and
Ian Moore (9th, 55:38.8) also finished in the top-ten. For the second straight day, the Catamounts took home the most points on the men's Nordic side with 128.
Margie Freed was the Catamounts top finisher in the Women's 15k Classic. She placed seventh in a time of 47:29.0. Vermont newcomer
Waverly Gebhardt earned a 15th place finish in the second collegiate race of her career. She clocked in at a time of 48:06.9.
MacKenzie Rizio was the last Catamount to score, coming in 19th place with a time of 48:31.3. The women's Nordic squad earned 91 points on the second day of competition.
Vilinaova was once again the top finisher for the women's team on the slopes. She earned her first career EISA win with a combined time of 2:12.43 in the giant slalom.
Josefine Selvaag also earned a podium place, finishing in third place with a two-run time of 2:12.63. Vermont's final scorer was Rachael Desrochers who placed 8th in a time of 2:13.88. Desrochers second run time of 1:03.35 was the fastest in the field Saturday afternoon. The women's alpine team earned 125 team points, the most in the field.
Joachim Jagge Lindstol led the men's team in the giant slalom earning his second EISA podium in as many starts, placing third overall Saturday. His two-run combined time was 2:08.03.
Raphael Quenneville finished in eighth place with a time of 2:08.87. Vermont's final scorer was
Spencer Smith who placed 35th in a time of 2:11.90. The men's team secured 92 team points.
With the Harvard Carnival victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont, bringing the 2020 total to 11 wins totaling $1,100.
