HUNTINGTON, Vt. – On another busy Friday for the Catamounts
Anna Bizyukova,
Mathias Tefre and
Matias Øvrum earned wins as Vermont secured five podium finishes on the day with Nordic action from Sleepy Hollow and men's giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain.

Øvrum started the day strong for the Catamounts with a convincing 1-2 finish for Vermont in the men's 10k Classic.
Øvrum won the race with a time of 23:43.6 and his teammate
Jacob Nystedt finished 10.6 seconds later. There was a 45 second gap after
Øvrum and Nystedt to the third-place finisher.
Greg Burt was Vermont's final scorer in the event placing fourth overall with a time of 24:55.6.
Bizyukova also skied to a comfortable win in the 10k Classic. Each of her 5k splits was tops in the field as she won with an overall time of 27:44.6.
Lina Sutro earned a podium finish placing third overall with a time of 28:27.1.
Waverly Gebhardt was the final scorer of the day for Vermont placing fifth overall with a time of 29.12.2.
Annie McColgan (6th) and
Libby Tuttle (8th) also earned top-10 finishes on the day.
Friday was the final Nordic EISA races of the condensed 2021 campaign. Select student-athletes will be back in action at the 2021 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire March 10-13.
From Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid the men's alpine team competed in two giant slalom races Friday. In the first race of the day the Catamount scorers finished fourth through sixth. With
David Frisk (4th),
Declan McCormack (5th), and
Mathias Tefre (6th) all having two-run times within .27 seconds of each other. Frisk's mark of 1:55.93 led the way for UVM and UNH's Crowley Gentile won the race with a time of 1:55.37.
Tefre and the fastest first and second run time of the second GS Friday. His two-run time of 2:03.98 was .63 seconds faster than the second-place finisher UNH's Marius Solbakken.
Raphael Quenneville finished tenth for Vermont with a two-run mark of 2:06.81. Frisk was the Catamounts final scorer placing 14th (2:08.85).
The men's and women's alpine squads will head now to the Proctor Ski Area in Andover, New Hampshire for the first-ever Boston College Carnival. The women's teams will close out the EISA campaign with two slalom races Saturday and the men will follow suit on Sunday.
