BURLINGTON, Vt. – With just about a week left until the star tof the 2022 seasons, the Vermont field hockey team has its captains.

Haley Buffenbarger will once again wear the captain band for the Catamounts and she'll be joined by classmate

Buffenbarger will anchor the back line again this season. She has started all 45 games in her career thus far and finished 2021 with a goal and an assist while helping the Catamount defense hold opponents to just 1.50 goals per game.
Hall enters her senior season as one of the program's most prolific scorers. She ranks 18
th all-time with 41 career points through her first three seasons in Burlington. Last fall, she tallied nine assists – the third most in a single season in program history – and three goals.
King – the recipient of the team's most improved player award following the 2021 spring season – joins the trio and will provide steady depth up front this season. She finished last fall with three assists as one of the team's top defensive forwards.
Vermont opens the season next weekend with a pair of games in New Haven, Conn. The Cats take on Syracuse to begin the year on Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. The next day, UVM battles Sacred Heart at 1 p.m.
