DUBLIN, N.H. – Mathias Tefre won the slalom Saturday and the Vermont Nordic teams won the Classic Relays but the Catamounts fell 13 points short of Dartmouth at the second-ever Harvard Carnival. The Big Green earned its first EISA carnival win since 2019 with 848 team points.

Tefre won his third slalom race of the 2023 campaign Saturday with a two-run time of 1:23.99. His closest competitor was .90 seconds off his pace. Tefre had the fastest first run time in the field at 39.36 and the two-time defending NCAA Champion in the discipline held his initial lead and added to it.
Declan McCormack earned his second top-10 of the season in the slalom with a combined time of 1:25.45, good for sixth place.
Joachim Jagge Lindstol was UVM's final scorer placing eighth overall with a two-run time of 1:25.50. Lindstols's second run time of 44.39 was the second fastest in the field.
In the women's slalom the Catamounts placed three skiers on the podium.
Moa Clementson was UVM's top finisher placing second overall with a two-run time of 1:33.53. Hanna Larsson Nathhorst of Plymouth State completed the weekend sweep finishing .11 seconds faster than Clementson. UVM's Justine Clement and
Caroline Jones finished tied for third place with a combined run time of 1:33.86.
Marina Vilanova (7th, 1:34.03) and Cydnie Timmerman (10th, 1:34.66) also earned top-10 places on Saturday.
The UVM relay squads claimed the men's and women's races on Saturday. UVM's trio of
Greg Burt,
Petter Bakken and
Jacob Nystedt finished in a time of 36:06.9 just .3 seconds ahead of Dartmouth's top team.
Haley Brewster,
Annie McColgan and
Waverly Gebhardt defeated the top trio from Middlebury by 2.3 seconds in a time of 42:57.7. In the women's UVM had a second relay squad of
Molly Moening,
Libby Tuttle and
Marielle Ackermann. They placed fourth overall with a time of 44:26.2.
The alpine and Nordic teams return to action next weekend for the Williams Carnival. The Nordic teams will head to southern Vermont and Prospect Mountain while the alpine teams will compete in Hancock, Mass. at Jiminy Peak. Both teams are in action Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18.
