LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Joachim Jagge Lindstol won his third race of the season in the giant slalom Friday leading the way for the Catamounts who won five podiums on the day at the 2023 St. Lawrence Carnival and EISA Championships. After the opening day of competition Vermont sits in first place with 466 points, but leads Dartmouth by just a single point.

Team Scores
Lindstol won the GS by a hundredth of a second Friday claiming his sixth podium of the campaign with a two-run time of 2:06.60. Saint Michael's Eirik Ranheim Kveno was second just .06 seconds later.
Mathias Tefre was third overall for the Catamounts earning his seventh podium of the season. His combined run time was 2:06.93.
Declan McCormack was the Catamounts final scorer placing fourth overall with a two-run time of 2:08.23.
In the women's giant slalom
Justine Clément carried over her momentum from yesterday's GS win placing second overall with a two-run time of 2:12.12. Dartmouth's Carly Elsinger won the day by .17 seconds. First year Cydnie Timmerman was Vermont's next scorer placing 14th with a combined run time of 2:16.03.
Caroline Jones placed 24th for Vermont (2:17.04) picking up an additional 19 team points for Vermont.
Haley Brewster was UVM's top finisher in the 5k Freestyle from Mt. Van Hoevenberg, she placed second overall with a time of 14:17.0. UNH's Lucinda Anderson claimed the event by 6.7 seconds with a time of 14:10.3.
Libby Tuttle earned her seventh top-10 of the season placing sixth overall in a time of 14:49.0.
Waverly Gebhardt (9th, 14:52.8) and
Annie McColgan (10th, 14:54.2) also earned top-10 finishes for the Catamounts.
Jacob Nystedt was Vermont's top finisher in the men's 10k freestyle, also placing second overall (25:08.06). Dartmouth's John Steel Hagenbuch roared past the field with an impressive mark of 23:57.2.
Finn Sweet (5th, 25:13.2) and
Bjorn Westervelt (6th, 25:21.1) finished back-to-back for the Catamounts earning 76 team points.
Aidan Burt also landed in the top-10 with a ninth-place finish in a time of 25:52.5.
The alpine and Nordic teams will close out the EISA Carnival circuit tomorrow in Lake Placid. The Nordic teams will compete in a 20k Classic with a mass start, women begin at 10 a.m. followed by the men at noon. The alpine teams will wrap up the season skiing slalom from Whiteface Mountain, run one is set for 9:30 a.m.
