WATERVILLE, Maine – Haley Brewster of the Vermont Ski Team has been named National Women's Nordic Skier of the Year, as announced Friday by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association.
"It is exciting to see Haley receive this award," said Head Coach
Patrick Weaver. "She had so many highlights this past year, and she certainly deserves this given how much dedication and hard work she has put towards her training."
Brewster finished in second place as a First Team All-American in both NCAA Championship Nordic races, the 7.5k freestyle and 20k classic. In eight collegiate races this season only three skiers managed to best Brewster, as she won the other five. At the 2024 US XC Nationals in January, she was the National Champion in the 20k Freestyle Mass start. She was the first American Catamount to win a US National title while attending UVM. She also made 5 World Cup Starts this season, skiing with the world's best in the sport, her top finish was 25th in the 10k Freestyle. She also won a silver medal at the U23 World Championships.
Following the season Brewster was also named the Vermont ski team's female MVP and she also received the Meg & Kate Ryley Underclass Achievement Award at the 2024 Rally Awards presented by Acadia Insurance. The Meg & Kate Ryley Underclass Achievement Award, named after former alpine skiers Meg and Kate Ryley who combined to win the award three times, recognizes outstanding athletic accomplishments by a male and female student-athlete in the first year, sophomore and junior classes.
