JEFFERSONVILLE/HUNTINGTON, Vt. – Annie McColgan came in first place for Vermont Nordic Ski followed by
Kristin Maltun Helland placing third, each earning a podium finish after the 10k Skate Individual Start from Sleepy Hollow in Jeffersonville, Vt. on Friday afternoon.
Mackenzie Wood finished third on the slopes for the Alpine squad at Smugglers Notch in Huntington, Vt. during the GS race, securing his second straight podium finish on the season. Vermont currently stands in second place in the carnival with 353.5 total points. Dartmouth is in first place with 428 total points.

On the Nordic side in Huntington, Vt. from Sleepy Hollow, the women shined, registering the highest amount of points out of any school participating in the Saint Michael's Carnival during day one, seeing McColgan finish in first place during the 10k Skate with a time of 27:36.50 while Helland secured third place with a time of 28:08.70. It's Helland's third podium finish on the season thus far and McColgan's first podium finish.
Molly Moening earned her best finish of the season, placing seventh in the 10k Skate with a time of 29:18.00 while
Rose Horning rounded out the top 15 finishing in 13th place for the Catamounts with a time of 29:32.20, also her best finish of the season this far.
On the slopes, both men's and women's Alpine earned the third most points on the day, seeing six top 20 finishes and three top 10. For the men's portion of the GS race, Wood finished in third place racing a two-run time of 1:49.59. Wood has now earned a podium placing in back-to-back races.
Cole Palchak continues to excel, finishing in 15th place, a season best, skiing a two-run time of 1:50.56, also his first top 15 finish on the season.
Oskar Gillberg placed 20th, his first top 20 placing of the season.
For the women's portion of the GS race,
Justine Clément recorded her third top 5 placing on the season, finishing in fourth with a two-run time of 1:52.43, her best placing on a GS race this season.
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst rounded out the top 10, finishing 10th with a two-run time of 1:52.99, also her best placing in a GS race this season.
Cydnie Timmermann notched quality EISA points with her finish of 20th place, racing a two-run time of 1:53.98.
Tomorrow, during day two of the Saint Michael's Carnival, the Alpine squad will wrap up their portion with the slalom race with the men starting their first runs at 9:30 a.m. and the women starting their first runs at 10:30 a.m. The Nordic portion will conclude with a 3x5km Relay Classic starting with the men at 10 a.m. and the women starting at 12 p.m. The Alpine teams will compete at Smuggler's Notch in Jeffersonville, Vt. while the Nordic teams will be at Sleepy Hollow in Huntington, Vt.
