SCOUTING THE FIELD
UMass Lowell is the top-ranked team in the men's competition entering Saturday's championships. The UML men are the lone America East team ranked in the Northeast Region's Top-15 by the USTFCCCA at No. 10. The women's side has two teams ranked in the Northeast, with Binghamton at No. 11, and New Hampshire at No. 13.

LAST TIME IN KINGSVILLE
Kingsville, Md. is the location for the America East Championships for the first time since 2016. The UVM women were led by All-Conference runners Autumn Albrecht and Samantha Sayer en route to a fourth-place finish as a team. The Vermont men finished fifth in the team competition with Patrick Coppinger securing All-Conference honors.

ALL-CONFERENCE JANE
Jane Leighton is the lone Catamount running this weekend to have earned All-Conference honors in previous America East Cross Country Championships. She finished 10th in the 2021 championships to earn Second Team All-Conference. Leighton also won the Elite 18 award for her impressive work on the course and in the classroom.

LAST YEAR'S CHAMPIONSHIPS
The America East Cross Country Championships were hosted by New Hampshire a season ago, which saw the Vermont women place fifth (141 pts.) and the men sixth (165 pts.) in their respective competitions.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cats earned a pair of victories in the most recent outing at the Fall Foliage Invitational (OPct. 16). The Vermont women scored 25 points for their first-place finish, and the men picked up 36 points in their win.

Andrew Crompton placed first in the men's 8k.
