Cross Country Prepares for NCAA Northeast Regional

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont Cross Country will travel to Hopkinton, N.H., to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional competition. The event takes place at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds and will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women's 6k, and the men's 10k will take place at noon. Lancer Timing will provide the live results.

VERMONT WOMEN OUTLOOK

The women hosted the America East championships two weeks ago and took seventh with a score of 134 points.
MegAnne Gilmore earned all-conference honors with her 11th-place finish. Clare Kelly was the second Catamount across the line with her 26th-place finish.
At last year's regional, Vermont finished 28th, with Lily Porth and Kelly, the Catamounts' top finishers.
The starters in the women's race will be Gilmore, Kelly, Caroline Deiss, Claire MacDonald, Hope Tyska, Emma Leary, and Erica Eastman.

VERMONT MEN OUTLOOK

The men also hosted the America East Championships and took sixth with a score of 157 points.
Elliot Hawley and Jameson Sparks were the top finishers for Vermont, finishing in 18th and 30th, respectively.
Dillon Jensen and Sparks were the Catamounts' top finishers at last year's regional, as the men finished in 30th place.
The starters in the men's race will be Hawley, Sparks, William Locke, James Cilwik, Henry Nasse, Bennett Harrison-Michaels, and Jacob Tremblay.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Vermont will go up against five of their America East counterparts, whom they raced against two weeks ago, as Binghamton, New Hampshire, Maine, UMass Lowell, and Bryant will compete in both races.
The River Hawks were the top finishers a year ago, finishing 12th in the men's race and 17th in the women's.
