Amy Dwire Jamieson 1992 - Field Hockey, Track and Field

A captain in two sports, a New England champion and the winner of the 1992 Wasson Athletic Prize for excellence in athletics and academics, Amy Dwire Jamieson, inducted into the UVM Hall of Fame in 2006, held five school track and field records when she graduated in 1992.

Jamieson, a native of Richmond, Vermont, excelled in both track and field and field hockey at Vermont. She was a two-time captain of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams, and when she graduated in 1992 she held six school records: 55 meters, 400 meters and 500 meters indoors, and 400 meters and 4x400 relay outdoors. Jamieson was one of the top 400-meter runners in New England, and she proved it by winning the 1991 New England indoor title in the event in a school-record time of 56.13. She also won the 55 and 500 at the America East meet, her first of five conference titles.

At the 1992 indoor America East meet she won the 500 again (1:15.18) and was third in the 200 (25.34) and third in the 400 at the 1992 Indoor New England's. In the 1992 America East outdoor championship, Amy won the 400 in a meet-record time of 56.78.

After the 1992 indoor track season, Jamieson was honored as the America East Scholar-Athlete. In addition, she was a three-time member of the America East Academic Honor Roll. As a junior, she was named the MVP and the Most Improved Runner for both indoor and outdoor track and field. That year she won 13 races indoors and won the America East title in the 55 meters.

In field hockey, Jamieson was a team co-captain as a senior in 1991 when she led the team with three game-winning goals and finished fourth on the team in scoring with five goals and two assists. She was also among the team's top scorers as a junior and finished her career with 10 goals and four assists for 14 points.

A 1992 UVM graduate with a degree in communication science and disorders, Jamieson won the Rodney Everhart Book Award as the outstanding graduating student in her major. She served as an assistant track coach in 1992-93 at UVM while earning her master's degree in communication science.
