Wolf von Carlowitz 1994 - Swimming

Wolf von Carlowitz, a 2006 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, left his legacy as one of the top men's swimmers at Vermont. A versatile and talented free-style swimmer, his name is etched in the UVM record book in several distances.

von Carlowitz set Catamount records in the 100 freestyle (46.14) and 200 freestyle (1:42.38) and is a member of all five record-setting relay teams, which include the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.56), 400 freestyle relay (3:08.39), 800 freestyle relay (7:00.48), 200 medley relay (1:38.78) and the 400 medley relay (3:34.42).

At the time of his graduation, von Carlowitz held the Forbush Natatorium pool record in the 200 freestyle (1:42.79) and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that also held the pool record (3:12.28).

"Wolf von Carlowitz was a very talented freestyler who achieved great athletic success at UVM," said his former coach Joe Fischer.

"He was one of the very few swimmers I coached who improved each of his four years at UVM. Wolf is a UVM varsity record holder in two individual events and all five relays, and regularly competed in the finals of those events at the conference and ECAC Championships. Always humble and friendly to everyone, Wolf's quiet style of leadership earned him the highest level of respect from the men and women on the swim team and his performance at practice and competition regularly influenced the men's and women's team to improve their performance."
