Robert A. Kuchar 1985 - Basketball, Cross Country

A 5'9" guard for the Catamounts from 1956-1959, Bob Kuchar, a 1985 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, was a picture of consistency and a fluid scorer.

He joined an exclusive club in his senior season, as he passed the 1,000-point plateau. To date, only 10 players in UVM history have supassed that mark, and when Kuchar graduated with 1,091 points, he was second on the all-time scoring list. Even more impressive, Kuchar racked up his point total in just three seasons.

An outstanding outside shooter, he made his mark from the perimeter, and his 16.3 career scoring average still ranks seventh best in the UVM books. His 1,091 career points are good for twenty-second place as of 2010.

Vermont was 42-25 in Duchar's three seasons. As a senior, he captained the Catamounts and was chosen Most Valuable Player.

Bob was named to All-Yankee Conference and All-Vermont squads his junior and senior years, and in 1959 he was picked to a host of All-East teams. In the fall, Kuchar used his exceptional foot speed to earn three varsity letters for the UVM cross country team.

Kuchar, who played basketall for the New York Athletic Club in 1960 and 1961, once played in the U.S. Basketball Hall of Fame game in Springfield, Mass.

A three-sport athlete at Dickinson High School (Jersey City, N.J.), he was All-State in basketball, once playing in the New York-New Jersey all-star game, and was the city cross country champion as a senior. He also played baseball.

Kuchar, who resides in Edinson, N.J., is president of Bob Kuchar Sports Co., sellers and distributors or professional golf equipment.
