Chris Boehmer Swan 1987 - Track and Field

A three-time captain of the women's track and field team and the 1987 Sunderland Memorial Trophy winner, Chris Boehmer Swan set eight individual school records, one relay record, one Archie Post Field record and one Gardner-Collins cage record. Swan, a two-time MVP of the track team and a five-time New England champion in the long jump, was inducted into the UVM Hall of Fame in 1997.

She won indoors in 1984 and 1987, and outdoors in 1984, 1986 and 1987. She also won the New England outdoor long-jump championship in 1986. In addition, she won the ECAC title in the long jump, both indoor and outdoor, in 1984, was second in the outdoor in 1987, and third indoors that same year. In the New England Indoor Championships in 1987, she was second in the triple jump and second in the pentathlon. At the 1987 New England Outdoor Championships, she participated in six events and scored an incredible 20 points. During her career, she was ranked 17th in the United States in the long jump.

Among the school records she set while at UVM are the indoor long jump, indoor 50-meter dash, outdoor long jump, outdoor triple jump, outdoor 100-meter dash and she was a member of the outdoor 4-by-100 meter relay (along with UVM Hall of Famer Sara Houghaboom Higgins). After a broken foot kept her from competing one season at UVM, she earned a redshirt season.

Boehmer Swan received her degree in physical therapy at UVM and served as a student athletic trainer. She competed in various track and field competitions in California up until 1992.
